Student Leadership and
Community Service

At Darrow, we work to develop students into responsible citizens and community leaders. Our students gain confidence to express themselves and influence others in a positive manner. Through the student leadership program, we offer many opportunities for students to be actively involved in creating, organizing, and leading programs and activities on campus.
Students are members of Student Government, hold prefectships, and serve as Resident Assistants in the dorms, team captains, or leaders of specific clubs and activities. Nearly all students experience some leadership role by the time they graduate, adding to their opportunities to build self-confidence and self-esteem.
Community service, beyond the Hands-to-Work program, is another fundamental aspect of the Darrow experience. Current projects include serving as teaching assistants in an elementary school, serving meals to the homeless, working on Habitat for Humanity projects, and operating two unique Darrow projects-a firewood fuel assistance program and a yearly Christmas tree project that donates Darrow-grown trees to local families in need. The student-initiated Giving Tree has been established as a campus thrift shop with proceeds going to a different charity after each sale.
